“Peace on earth, goodwill toward men” rings true as we finish our Christmas season and look toward a new year. January 12 marked the one year anniversary of the disastrous earthquake in Haiti and nationwide commemoration services remembered the horrors and loss of life, but also celebrated the gift of life that most attribute to God. “He spared my life”, “He spared my family” are words spoken everywhere, and a sense of hope continues to grow in this ‘broken’ nation. The elections still contain that ray of hope; that things will change; governments will be new, that a new focus on justice, care, and concern for the citizens will usher in A Better Haiti. The unrest is real. Frustrations abound where literally nothing works well and everything is broken, but with the demonstrations comes a voice of the people who demand the hope be fed and not quenched by the traditional injustice and corruption. God’s promise of “a hope-filled future” Jeremiah 29, is now ‘the Haitian Dream”. Pray for Haiti today, and let’s work with Him in this season of transformation.
