Last week our team from Medford Oregon went to Foursquare Haiti to be the first American team to visit and work at one of our very remote churches. Foursquare Haiti has just recently purchased a 5 acre parcel where the church, school, children’s home and self sufficiency projects will be built. This will be an awesome community hub for the hundreds of people that live in the area.
The experiences that I gained from this trip will never be forgotten. We went to a village named Nicola, close to the city of Les Cayes, for 5 days. While there, we built a fence, planted a garden, renovated a house and most of all, bonded with the people we met.
I bonded particularly with a little girl we came to know as “Ci-Ci.” We never got her real name because she was very shy. This did not stop me from sharing my love and affection to her . I really enjoy being able to sit with someone and not feel pressured to talk -we couldn’t talk because of the language barrier, yet we still shared many fun times together. I say all of this to tell you that it is very possible to bond with anyone no matter the circumstance and doing so will change your life forever.
I will never forget Ci-Ci because she taught me how to value time with a person.
Come to Haiti -You will never forget it!
