Pastor Bellande, one of the Foursquare pastors in the Port au Prince area, started an orphanage last May in order to take care of some of the children left homeless or destitute after the earthquake. He, himself, was left without parents at an early age and was taken in by a Christian who raised and discipled him. He has always had a dream of having his own children that need a loving family. He and his wife now have 12 children who all have a heartrending story. The ” Children of Promise” home will eventually be home to 25-30 children. Pastor rented a home with the help of Foursquare Relief and Compassion but will not be able to remain there past the end of the school year.
In early January, we purchased a piece of property with the donations of the Camas, Washington Foursquare Church. The new church and children’s home will be built on this land, along with self suffficiency projects such as Tilapia ponds, poultry raising and gardening.
This is a wonderful opportunity for churches to pitch in and help raise money to see these children live in a permanent home with loving parents and care givers. They will have plenty of good food to eat, a loving family, a caring church and a place to play and run. We can see this dream become a reality when a lot of people do a little. Thank you for all you do for the love of Haiti.
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. James 1:27
