Some weeks ago now an awesome woman called Val Yobie arrived in Haiti to work with us in establishing the Women’s Training Centre.
Having hit the ground, more sprinting than running, the bead making class is already at the stage of making jewellery that we can sell to help support the schools and orphanages here that we are involved with.
This morning two women, called Marie Ange and Emylene, started work as jewellery makers. We hope that in time they will be able to take over as teachers and supervisors. They are fantastic women with a real eye for design and quality. Even before we began making bracelets this morning we were behind in orders. Its a fantastic problem to have! It gives us the confidence to think that we will be able not only to be empowering and equipping the women who work with us, but also making a significant difference in the lives of so many children in Haiti.
If you would be interested in buying any of our pieces or helping to sell them in the future please get in touch.
